Karen S. Campbell, a native of Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1977 with a dual major in Classical Humanities and Religion Studies. She has earned a Master of Theological Studies at Harvard Divinity School and a Masters of Classics at the University of Kentucky. She has also studied Classics during a summer session of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece. She earned a Certificate of Lay Ministry from the Athenaeum, Mt. St. Mary’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has earned her Certificate in Genealogical Studies: Librarianship, "with distinction", from the National Institute of Genealogical Studies, The University of Toronto.

As a Lay Minister in the Catholic Church, specifically in Religious Education, for many years, Karen was an administrator and teacher. Now a convinced Quaker, she attends at Miami Monthly Meeting of The Society of Friends (Friends General Conference) in Waynesville, Ohio. She has also taught college courses in Classics and Religion Studies. She has taught many classes about researching and genealogy. For eleven years she was the Genealogy Librarian of The Mary L. Cook Public Library in Waynesville, Ohio.

Karen is interested in all aspects of local history in southwest Ohio and the mid-west. Her special interest is in mid-western Quaker history and genealogy. She feels that the history and legacy of The Society of Friends in southwest Ohio and also southeast Indiana is interesting, significant and edifying. Knowledge of this history shines light upon present issues in the mid-west and the nation as a whole.

The history of the area is a microcosm of American history. Southwest Ohio is made up of diverse groups of pioneers and its development paralleled the diversity, the struggles and the growth of the United States. Karen is also interested in the history and culture of local cities, towns, villages and hamlets in the area, for example, Dayton, Xenia, Springfield, West Milton, Harveysburg, Wilmington, Mount Holly, Spring Valley, Lytle, Oregonia, Cincinnati, and many others.

Karen has lived in Ohio, Michigan and Maryland. She has traveled extensively through Europe and in Asia. She loves American history and the history of religion in America. She also likes to travel and loves to cook all kinds of ethnic food. She loves to read, to listen to music, to paint, and to research.
