If you come across any issues whatsoever with the site, please post them here.  We will respond to each and every report.

Thanks.

The "About Us" section needs to be proofed.

We have someone going through the site now, proofing everything.

Thanks

I've had several problems, but have submitted questions to the support address.

One issue I'll mention here, because I've figured it out on my own, is the "Demographics" tab on the Profile.  It asks about "ESM" -- which is left undefined.  But then I saw that, when one refers to the Member Directory and views an individual entry, one of the first things displayed is the year one began researching.  And it's blank if you don't enter a year on that last Profile page.

So, folks, don't neglect the "Demographics" part of your Profile, but just enter the year you first began your quest for ancestors.  I'd already given that as part of my "Bio," but have now placed it where it was intended to go.  One less problem to sort out!

I've sent several emails to the support address asking how to join.  They've never answered.  So, I joined Facebook (even though I didn't want to) and login through Facebook.  Now, it seems, every time I do something on your site I'm asked about socializing it on Facebook.  Arre you just conduit for Facebook?

The problem I have trying to join is that you tell me the CAPTCHA wasn't valid or didn't match.  I just tried joining again and was told thre's already an account with my email address; so, I asked for a password reset.  Once again I was told about the CAPTCHA..  THERE ISN'T ANY CAPTCHA ON THE PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  HOW CAN I DO IT WHEN IT ISN.T THERE????

I think I'll stop trying to use your site; you seem to  be just a socializing site for genealogists, you don't seem to have any searchable sources.  And while there's probably someone that has the anaswer/information I need,, the difficulty I'm having trying to join means I'll probably have to live without it.  I guess the socializing aspect of your site didn't register when I read the article in the current NGS magazine.

[I'm sure you'll tell me I'm crazy or blind because the CAPTCHA is on the page  And yes I'm very frustrated..]

I tried to preview this; the preview screen was blank. {Like you were expecting something different, Richard?}

Hi guys...

Sorry for the lack of response. Having some growing pains.

We have condensed all support email addresses to one.  It is now support@siriusinnovations.com.

I will look into the issues you mentioned and get back to you shortly.

Phil

Good detective work Gordon.  Yes... you are correct... and we have fixed the label in the profile to make it obvious.

Thanks again.

Your site isn't "user friendly" for me.  Reasons for this conclusion:  1 - My post to the Beta Site Issues: Please Report Problems With The Site Here thread wasn't answered or addressed; 2- The sign-in page asks for "email or user name" entering my user name and password gets the response "Invalid User name or Password"; using my email address and password signs me in.  Change the sign-in directions to say "email address" and don't allow the use of user names.  3 - Signed in, click to open a file told I must be signed in why???

Your site isn't very helpful.  I guess you don't really want to help others, or just me, so if I don;t get a response or answer I'll know I'm correct and stop wasting time (yours and mine) by not ever trying to use the site again.  [Maybe my posts don't show-up when you review the posts; not likely but possible.  Still get a blank screen when I click to Preview my post, so maybe only I can see them, even without being signed in.]

Great idea Richard....  We already had plans to elimnate the username and just use the email address.  The username is left-over from the forums before we updated them.  We will schedule that change ASAP.

We really DO WANT TO BE HELPFUL.... So your suggestions will be taken seriously.  We are hopefully getting back on track with being more responsive.

The preview issue is a complicated one to explain.  For now, we are just going to hide that button until we can figure out a solution.

I will discusss the issue about being a full (registered) member to download files at out next meeting.

Hope that helps a bit.

Phil
